Literacy Overview

Literacy is the ability to communicate well with others through speech, writing, reading and understanding. A child with good literacy skills will have many more opportunities open to them than those without; they will be able to: connect with the subjects they are learning; express their own views, ideas and opinions; understand more about the world around them; and communicate effectively in a wide range of situations.

At Middleton Technology School, we view the development of our pupils’ literacy skills to be of high importance. Work is done, not only in English lessons, but across the whole school which is designed to develop every child’s literacy skills.
